Adi
Kailash and Om Parvat Trekking Tour
“To see the greatness the maintain,
Keep some distains,
To understand it form,
Move around it,
To experience its moods,
See it at sunrise and sun sets,
At noon, at night, in sun and rain,
In all season. “
------ Lama Anganka Govinda. ----
Ventuing into unexplored part of glaciers of Kumaun Adi Kailash/Chhota
Kailash and Om Parvat trek is one of the best known trek in Kumaon
region of Uttarakhand. Himalayas have spiritual value attached to
them; this is the trek which has some spiritual as well as adventure
flavor.
According to the Hindu mythology, creator of the world Lord Shiva
resides on Mount Kailash. Hindus believe there are three Kailash
mountain in the world, Kailash manasasarovar or the Greater /Bada
Kailash which is in Tibet, Adi Kailash or the Chota Kailasha in
Uttaranchal and Kinnaur Kailash in Himachal Pradesh. Government
of India organizes pilgrimage tours to Greater Kailash in association
with the China government. Adi Kailash lies on the route to Greater
Kailash near the Sino-Indo border. Majority of the trek is along
the Kali river, which is natural India-Nepal border. Om Parvat marks
the tri-junction point, point where borders of Tibet, Nepal and
India meet. The timeless mystique of Adi Kailash and Om Parvat undoubtedly
owes to its immense height.
